The HeartLand Tour comes to Bridgewater on July 11th!

The aim of this special event which is supported by the communities of Bridgewater, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg is to promote active living through play and physical activity.

There are two bike rides this year for participants of all ages and abilities.

The Bridgewater bike ride starts at 9:00 AM from Ship Yards Landing (King Street, Bridgewater – NEW LOCATION FOR THIS YEAR).

A second ride on trails will start at 10:30 AM at the 3 Churches parking lot in Mahone Bay (NEW FOR THIS YEAR).

Children’s Activities start at 1:00 PM and continue until 4:00 PM at the Ship Yards Landing.

Again this year we have partnered with the Heart & Stroke Walkabout and there will be a walk as part of the day’s activities – great for children and adults.  A 30 minute walk will start at 9 AM from Ship Yards Landing.

Children’s field activities will be supported by the Lunenburg Municipality and Bridgewater Recreation Departments (a big thanks to their staff). Activities will include mini golf / tug of war / back yard play / jumping pit / obstacle course / activity demos and other fun things.  Some healthy snacks will be provided.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be a Health Information Booth with a focus on stroke prevention.

At the end of the day around 4:00 PM there will be draws for several children’s bicycles and other prizes.

Thanks to all our great HeartLand Tour volunteers, business and community supporters that make this Tour happen every year.

A special thank you to Alan Creaser and his staff at the Old Fish Factory in Lunenburg as they will be providing a complementary lunch on the wharf again this year.
